Program Description:
The recital of the year is here. Beethoven's immortal piano composition the Moonlight Sonata comes to Hyderabad in all its glory. One of the most anticipated recitals in the world happens right here with concert pianist Paavali Jumppanen from Finland. Winner of the prestigious Young Concert Artists Competition in New York, and the Maj Lind Piano Competition in Helsinki - He brings tremendous facility and technical prowess for such a demanding performance.

This program may easily be the centerpiece of the classical piano literature - Four of the most challenging Études by Chopin will be followed by the dynamic and enlightening Schubert Wanderer Fantasy. The Wanderer Fantasy is colossal in its stature and considered Schubert's most technically demanding composition for the piano. Schubert himself said "the devil may play it", in reference to his own inability to do so properly.

The program continues to a whole section dedicated to Beethoven. Starting with the 'smaller' sonata (Op.54 in F-major) which is a rarely performed treasure. Its lyrical first movement is light but filled with many golden moments and the last movement will take you on a fascinating fantasy ride.

The finale of the program is a piece that needs no introduction - The Moonlight Sonata has won the world over with its beauty and magic. This evening you will get to listen to the Moonlight in its entirety and experience the eclipse in its final movement. A program to reckon with and an evening not to be missed.

Chopin : Four Études Op.25
Schubert : Wanderer Fantasie
