Rohida Fort Trek – All You Need To Know

Rohida, also known as Vichitragad, is considered to be one of the most amazing forts out there in the world. If you have some free amount of time during your trekking experience here, you will also be able to cover Kenjalgad and Raireshwar. If you are looking forward to some moderate trekking experience, then this is a must-visit place for you.

How Can I Visit the Rohida Fort?

If you are making your way from Pune, we recommend you to catch the NH4 highway and turn towards Bhor. After the Kapurhol phata on the NH4, you will come across a diversion to the right which will take you to Bhor. After you get on your path to Bhor, you need to head over to Bajarwadi Village. Bajarwadi Village is Rohida fort’s base village. You can park your personal vehicles at Primary School at Bajarwadi.

Sightseeing

Most of the place is flat and barren. However, you can check out some few points. The major points at this fort are:

  • Water Reservoirs
  • Water Cisterns
  • Main Door
  • Bastion On The Fort
  • Rohideshwar Mandir

When’s The Best Time To Visit Rohida Fort?

If you want to know when’s the best time to visit this fort, then we might recommend you to visit this place during the monsoon season. If you are someone who loves camping, then you can visit this place during the winter season as camping during the winter season is considered to be breathtaking. Stargazing as well as cooking some delicious food over a bonfire is a blissful experience.

More About Camping

Rohida fort is certainly famous for camping. If you aren’t prepared for camping or don’t have camping tents along with yourself, then you can easily take some kind of shelter in the nearby temple at the place. The place and easily accommodate around 5-6 people. Most of the fort is plain flat land. And that's the main reason; wind can be a factor that can make or break your camping experience. Starting a bonfire can get really tough when it comes to the windy parts of the fort. The fire can easily spread around, and you must be cautious about that.

And we recommend you not to set up camps around the corners as there can be snakes or some insects crawling around the place. Many people have reportedly observed some huge snakes crawling around the place. And this could be something really dangerous for you.

Some More Information about the Rohida Fort

Shivaji Maharaj conquered this fort in one of the battles from the Bandal Deshmukhs. Aftermath the battle, a whole lot of officials were admitted into the Swarajya Movement of Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj. This fort is one of the many forts that was given away to the Mughals in the treaty of Purandar.
